With such an extensive portfolio of dreamy drawings and peachy prints, it's no wonder Devon Smith has captured the hearts of indie art fans across New Zealand. I didn't travel as far as her home town of Dunedin on my trip, but I did see her work in almost every cute shop I visited! From Auckland to Christchurch, Dee's enchanting forest creatures and rosy-cheeked girls appeared on everything from gift cards and pendants to t-shirts and brooches. It was hard to narrow it down, but these two prints are my faves.

I have to admit, whilst the scenery was simply breathtaking in New Zealand, one of the things I enjoyed most was snuggling up at night... and shopping for the perfect ugg boot. Well, it was snowing! So, it's really not surprising that I found myself cosying up to Leanne Culy and her natural woollen throws and fluffy cushions. Available in a range of earthy browns and serene blues, the cushions are backed with hemp fabric featuring Leanne's signature Kiwi-inspired prints. Lovely.

I love all types of geometric patterns and I REALLY love yellow and gray. I am constantly trying to think of ways to add both elements to any of my rooms designs. So when I saw these rugs from The Rug Company, I gasped with glee! There is just something so chic yet modern about this rug. It can go in a more 'girly' space to give color and texture. Any way that you look at this rug, it rocks!! Now, how do we get that price tag lowered?

The night before I flew out for New Zealand I stumbled upon these enchanting illustrations by fellow Melbourne artist YeeVon Chan and I just fell in love. I couldn't wait to post about her, so here I am just one day into my holiday and already popping in to post! These ones are titled The Dreamweaver and Autumn Spirit, how lovely is that? Aside from sharing a love of chocolate and forest animals, YeeVon is working on a little something special for Wolf and Willow right now... but you'll just have to wait and see. Okay, this one's from the archives, but I thought I'd share it with you anyway (just for fun!) because I bought a rather snazzy safari coat last week and it got me thinking... National treasure Beci Orpin created these yardage prints for Lisa Gorman last year, I think. I mean, could you imagine a better combo? I still feel they're very fresh and adorable, don't you? Perhaps they'll make a comeback? Beci's recent projects include a range of childrens clothing, some fab book projects and cute and quirky homewares. I can't wait to see what she comes up with next. Oh, bless! Look what I found. Some charming vintage wrapping paper from Hallmark. These ones are from the swinging sixties and I just can't believe how beautiful they are! From the cute little poodles and dainty pink shoes in the girl's birthday party wrap to the cheeky blonde cherubs and sweet doves in the bridal shower paper, I'm completely smitten. How about you?

Melbourne girl Eveline Tarunadjaja says she's inspired by unrequited love and fairy stories. I think she makes a little poetic magic herself with her sweet and mischievous illustrations. I love the intricate Art Nouveau style and vibrant blues in this illustration. It reminds me a little of the flower fairy books I enjoyed as a little girl, with beautiful fairies peeking out from behind fluffy petals.

There's definitely something magical about Swiss husband-and-wife artists Michael Husmann and Pascale Mira Tschaeni. I think it's sweet that they've been called a 'dream couple' in the local scene, don't you? My friend Sally discovered them on one of her online 'fashion adventures', admiring a collection by Rittenhouse that artfully splashes Husmann-Tschaeni across bedazzled silk dresses, embroidered skirts and printed swimsuits. I love the intense explosion of colour and texture and technique.

In keeping with this week's wintery theme, these peachy prints from the lovely Shelley and Paula of Sweet William remind me of sunlit winter mornings. With their whimsical palette of icy aquamarine, snow white and cerulean blue they're the perfect thing to cheer things up on a chilly day. It's hard to know what to say about Yuki Kitazumi, other than how beautiful her artwork is, as I'm afraid I can't read about her in Japanese. All I can say is that I just love her sweet illustrations! The soft brush strokes and cheerful palette remind me of rainbow Paddle Pops, sunshowers and childhood fantasies. From the little pieces I can glean from her blog and Flickr page, I gather Yuki is from Tokyo and loves all things girly, which is just fine by me.

My love affair with Melbourne's artists continues this week with Kirra Jamison, whose work I saw late last year at Sophie Gannon Gallery. These images from the exhibition, Slow Down You Move too Fast, show an almost psychadelic mix of earthy and celestial, fantasy and folk elements that I just couldn't resist posting. Those pop raccoons look as though they are climbing over slices of rainbow-coloured agate... so delightfully weird!

Last weekend I had the absolute pleasure of learning to screenprint my own yardage with the lovely Lara of Harvest Textiles. After two days of drawing, cutting, squeegie-ing, spraying, mixing and, well, rather clumsy splattering...
I was thrilled to finish up with several yards of my very own peony print fabric for myself and Daisy the pink sewing machine to play with.
Here's a little peek at my first ever attempt at screenprinting (excluding high school art class!) Is anyone surprised that, when faced with a few tubs of primary colours, I chose to mix up a delicious batch of watermelon and peach?
And this is what happens when you are too impatient, and go rushing ahead without waiting for
your friend to hold the screen steady... ooops! See how my floating blossoms have smudged? There's a lesson in that, Nancy.

It seems like the perfect moment for sharing these beautiful, peaceful scenes by Irena Sophia, don't you think? All of Irena's drawings possess a calm, quiet magic but I love these two the best. You may remember how my recent Field Journal assignment inspired a little jaunt down memory lane? This reminded of my dear childhood friends, my imaginary animals. I quite fancy these illustrations are of just that - me and my imaginary friends. Plus, the quirky little budgerigar is my favourite Australian bird!

Wouldn't it be nice to live inside a kaleidoscope for a day? Well, here at the very magical Cardboard Cities you can do just that. I really, really love narwhals. I mean, they are the unicorns of the sea! Especially bedazzled, Fauve-esque ones with rainbow disco bears for friends. Which means these dandy new prismatic prints have made it to the top of my wish list. Yay!

Anna Sui simply rocks my world! I found it almost impossible to choose my favourite pieces for this post... would it be the tartan shorts with burnt orange piped pockets or the kaleidoscopic peacock print stockings? The shiny Liberty-esque playsuits or the bedazzled vests? I settled on these three pearls, if nothing else but for the glorious variety of prints and trims. I mean, shiny citrus scarves, orange soda buttonholes and crushed velvet bows? Of course, I would!
