Peachy Prints: Jamie Mills
One good thing often leads to another, don't you think? That's how I discovered Jamie Mills, a talented chap from Cheltenham, whose illustrations seem to me the ideal blend of geometry and nature, structure and surrealism. I found him amongst other gems in previous featuree Kim Dulaney's Etsy favourites. Super, right? I'm also really digging the fragile balance of flat, screenprinted primary colour and loose, black and white pencil lines. Lovely, lovely, lovely!

Inspired By: Alison Scarpulla
Partly inspired by my latest obsession with moody shades of fuschia, plum and violet, I'm utterly spellbound by Alison Scarpulla. Her enchanting photographs remind me of exotic Russian fairytales of gypsy spells and magic. It's inspiring me to start working my novel again! Ooh, to much inspiration, too little time! I'll have to content myself with gazing and imagining for now, I guess.

Hiya lovelies! So nice to see your pretty faces on this wonderful Monday morning. Today, I officially start my new role as Creative Director for a neat little digital agency in groovy Melbourne. A talented little illustrator named Becca Stadtlander whose childhood was apparently spent rearranging the furniture and being fascinated by antiques and ballpoint pens. Flea Market Finds: Sixties Spring Patterns
Darlings, I know I've been neglecting you. What with Toffee magazine launching in just five sleeps, and my art exhibition coming up, I've found it so hard to keep up my regular posting schedule. So, in the hopes that you'll forgive me, here's something extra special. Look what I stumbled upon at an Adelaide thrift store on Sunday... isn't she beautiful? Oh, I found so many wonderful things, but this nifty 1960s pattern book, tucked away amongst some dog-eared Woman's Day magazines was my very, very best find! I hope you enjoy admiring the pretty dresses as much as I do. Aren't the sweetheart necklines just fancy?

Peachy Prints: Wolf and Willow Print Shop
So... many of you have been asking if my illustrations (spotted in my portfolio and field journal) are available as prints, and I've always hesitated... I guess because I'm a little shy about showing them, and never considered that anyone would ever love them like I do. Nevertheless, I have deferred to popular demand and opened up a little print shop where you can buy prints from my 'Dreaming' series. It comes at a really nice time, I suppose, because I'm working on a piece for 'Nursery Rhymes', a joint exhibition at the Urban Cow Gallery next year. The rhyme I have chosen to illustrate is 'Star Light, Star Bright', but more on that later. For now, I hope you'll enjoy my flower garden dreamers.

I was so, so charmed by these illustrations by Etsian artiste and Sydney girl, Caitlin Shearer, that I had to post them right away (even though we're due for a Vintage Icon today). I love the idea of mermaids in the bathtub - it's the perfect marriage of magical and the mundane. Like fairies at the bottom of the garden. So much scope for the imagination, don't you think?

Peachy Prints: Happiness at Volume 25
Golly gee, these prints by Jessica over at Volume 25 sure make me happy. There's a sense of magic, cheekiness and whimsy, with a spoonful of sweet sentiment (as expressed beautifully in her Sailing the Storm print). Sweet and inspirational, pastel and pretty. Since I've started working as a freelance designer, I've been lucky enough to work with some very sweet people on some equally sweet projects. Alas, I am often feeling like the "new girl" and hence, find myself self-consciously wondering about the state of my hair or make-up. A girl must make a good impression, you know. That's why I've been obsessing over these pretty pocket mirrors from Cartolina. What a perfectly lovely way to check one's reflection whilst dashing around Melbourne's design studios putting out creative fires. Nancy to the rescue... with neat hair and lippy, of course!

My heart is all a-flutter after finding these lovely works by London-based illustrator, Katey-Jean Harvey. Describing her imaginary world as one where sulky girls in cute dresses hang out with skeletons and sausage dogs, Katey-Jean makes magic with thin paintbrushes and grey paper... and a couple of stray grey cat hairs, I imagine!

Flea Market Finds: The Little Ballerina
Vintage children's books always ellicit the same response from me. I clasp my hands together and gasp and my eyes get all misty... let's just say, I ADORE them. I could probably fill an entire house with them if I had my way. But this one is extra special. This is Little Ballerina by Dorothy Grider from 1958. You might remember Dorothy's charming illustrations from this post last year? It's ever so dear to my heart. I really can't decide who is cuter, the little ballerina or her puppy dog?

Peachy Prints: Paper Collage by Violet May
When I caught a glimpse of Violet May's delightful collages on Etsy's front page the other day, I knew I'd be falling in love very shortly. And that's exactly what I did! The stylish simplicity of her designs and the cute colour choices make me smile, as do the charming, short-but-sweet names she gives to her artworks. Of course, the vintage element was what truly won my heart. Love.
